Korean Font Mac

(Redirected from List of typefaces included with OS X)

True Type fonts, Data-Forks, and the.dfont File Extension. Mac OS X TrueType and.dfont. In Mac OS 9, a font file (like almost all Mac OS 9 files) has both a resource fork and a data fork. In brief, this fork distinction means that a file's main data (such as the text of a text document) is in the data fork, and the rest of its metadata (type and creator information, icon, and so. On your Mac, click the Input menu in the menu bar. Choose to open preferences for the current input source (for example, choose Open 2-Set Korean Preferences). In preferences, choose any of the following: Font size: Specify the font size to use in the Candidate window. (The Candidate window shows suggested Hanja characters and their meanings. The default font used is 'AppleGothic', which is outdated (the default system font was changed 89 years ago) and ugly. The new default Korean font in Mac is 'AppleSDGothicNeo.ttc' in /System/Libarary/Fonts folder. It has been the system font for many years and I don't think any active Mac uses 'AppleGothic' in any place. Default Korean font on Apple Mac OS, Mac OS X, and iOS. Fully supports Unicode from Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. UnBatang, UnGungsuh 은바탕, 은궁서 F Included in most Linux distributions. Initially made by Un Koanghui (은광희) as a set of type 1 typefaces to use with Korean LaTeX. Download Google Chrome for Mac now from Softonic: 100% safe and virus free. More than 18018 downloads this month. Download Google Chrome latest versio.

This list of fonts contains every font shipped with Mac OS X 10.0 through macOS 10.14, including any that shipped with language-specific updates from Apple (primarily Korean and Chinese fonts). For fonts shipped only with Mac OS X 10.5, please see Apple's documentation.

Font appearances[edit]

  • These images compare Roman fonts only, in most styles:
  • The fonts in the following list were included as 'extras' with AppleWorks 6,[2] which was bundled with new iMacs until 2006.[3]

Hidden fonts[edit]

A number of fonts have also been provided with iMovie, iLife, iDVD and other Apple applications in hidden folders, for the sole use of these applications. The reason why these fonts are hidden is unknown, with licensing issues suggested as the cause. However, one may easily install them for use by all applications by copying them out of their Library directories and installing them as with any third-party font, although one should always check that the license for the fonts allows them to be used outside the given software.[4]

Notable hidden fonts on macOS include Bank Gothic, Bodoni, Century Gothic, Century Schoolbook, Garamond, several cuts of Lucida and Monotype Twentieth Century.

Consolas is a monospacedtypeface designed by Luc(as) de Groot. It is a part of the ClearType Font Collection, a suite of fonts that take advantage of Microsoft's ClearType font rendering technology. It has been included with Windows since Windows Vista, Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and is available for download from Microsoft. It is the only standard Windows Vista font with a slash through the zero character. It is the default font for Microsoft Notepad as of Windows 8.

Characteristics[edit]

Consolas supports the following OpenType layout features: stylistic alternates, localized forms, uppercase-sensitive forms, oldstyle figures, lining figures, arbitrary fractions, superscript, subscript.

Although Consolas is designed as a replacement for Courier New, only 713 glyphs were initially available, as compared to Courier New (2.90)'s 1318 glyphs. In version 5.22 (included with Windows 7), support for Greek Extended, Combining Diacritical Marks For Symbols, Number Forms, Arrows, Box Drawing, and Geometric Shapes was added. In version 5.32 the total number of supported glyphs was 2735.[1] In version 7.00 (as part of Windows 10 1909[2]) there are 3030 glyphs in total.

Availability[edit]

This font, along with Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Corbel and Constantia, is also distributed with Microsoft Excel Viewer, Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer,[3][4] the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack[5] for Microsoft Windows and the Open XML File Format Converter for Mac.[6]

Consolas is also available for licensing from Ascender Corporation.

Bare Bones Software has licensed the font from Ascender for use in their text editor BBEdit.

Alternatives[edit]

  • Inconsolata, an open source font inspired by Consolas, is available on Google Fonts.[7]
